About me

Hi there! I’m Laura Day, a writer, editor and bird nerd. I’m available for editorial commissions, copywriting, editing and consulting.

I write lifestyle editorial and work with brands and agencies as a copywriter. I have an interest in nature and conservation, women’s health, chronic conditions and health inequity. On the copywriting side, I’ve worked with brands in food, health, insurance and education. Really though, I’m happy to turn my hand at anything, because I love crafting a good story, no matter the topic.

I have an NCTJ and BJTC accredited BA Honours in Journalism (1st) from Liverpool John Moores University (my beloved hometown). As the university had no newspaper or magazine for students, I co-founded Savvy Magazine in my first year, with Stephen Kelly. Our first headline feature was an interview with Quentin Tarantino. In 2009, I was awarded the university’s Neil Warburton Prize.

I recently began a new project called Wild Finds, documenting my nature finds (though it’s mostly birds to be honest!) – both to educate myself and others about the amazing natural world. To start furthering my knowledge I recently completed a FutureLearn course with the University of Leeds in Wildlife and Ecology Conservation.

Come and talk to me on Twitter, though evidently I’m more of an observer than a tweeter. Or follow me on Instagram for pictures of nature and food.
