Meet the neighbours

With delicious food and drink in laid-back settings, Good Neighbour is already a hit in Camberwell and tooting. We pulled up a chair with founder Paul Williamson, who recently opened a new location right here in Peckham, to see how he’s settling into the neighbourhood.

Australians are known for taking good times seriously, and that’s very much the case with Paul Williamson. Every bit the good host, passionate about food, wine and people, he epitomises the friendly energy that he aims for in his restaurants.

Good Neighbour first landed in south London three years ago, in Camberwell, before a second restaurant opened up in Tooting. An now there’s a third outpost, right here in Peckham, at the former site of Pedler on Peckham Rye.

“We’ve always loved Peckham, this site, this location,” says Paul. “Not only the postcode, but the street address was exactly the one we have wanted for a long time.”

And it’s clear that diners love it too, with plenty of five-start reviews already tallied up since its opening towards the end of May. “It’s been absolutely amazing. We’ve been really, really blown away,” says Paul. “To see people loving it so much, we couldn’t be happier.”
