With a measure of serendipity, a dash of determination and a local botanical twist, four friends perfected a unique recipe for gin.
When a group of friends from Dulwich got together to drink gin at new year in Scotland six years ago, they’d only planned to see it through to midnight in high spirits. But what transpired instead was a sharing of ideas and experiences that serendipitously led to the creation of Dulwich Gin.
Thanks to one of the group trying a gin cocktail called “dill or no dill”, plus another’s local factoid that Dulwich means “the meadow where the dill grows”, the gin loving friends landed on an idea.
“We concocted in a slightly drunken fashion this great idea to make a gin with dill in it, and call it Dulwich Gin,” says Aisling Roberts, one of Dulwich Gin’s four directors. “It took a little bit of time to get it off the ground to be honest because we all have other day jobs.”
